Connect Google Search Console
Updated October 18, 2026
Statsdot shows where visits come from, but Google does not pass on what people searched for. Search Console does: connect it and your report shows the searches that made your site appear in Google, and the clicks they brought.
Before you start
The site must be added and verified in Google Search Console under the Google account you will connect. A domain property (example.com) or a URL-prefix property (https://www.example.com/) both work.
Connect
- Open the settings of your site (the cog next to the period buttons) and find Google Search Console.
- Choose Connect Search Console, pick your Google account and allow Statsdot to see your Search Console data.
- Statsdot picks the property that matches your site's domain. If none matches on its own, for example because the property uses another domain, choose it from the list.
The owner of the site or a manager on the team can connect it. Everyone on the team sees the data.
What you see
Under the panels of your report, Google search shows for the selected period:
- totals: clicks, impressions, click rate and average position;
- Searches: the top queries;
- Pages: the pages that appeared in Google, with the same figures.
Filtering by a page shows only the searches that led to that page. Other filters (source, country, device...) do not apply to Google's data, so the section is hidden while they are active.
Google publishes search data with a delay of a day or two, so "Today" is usually empty. Google also leaves out rare searches to protect the privacy of the people searching, which is why the totals can be higher than the sum of the rows.
Shared dashboards do not show it unless you tick Show Google searches on the shared link in the site settings. That makes your searches visible to anyone with the link, so leave it off unless you want them public, for example on a public demo.
API and AI assistants
GET /api/v1/sites/{site}/stats/search-console returns the same data (dimension=query or page, limit up to 100), and the MCP tool get-search-console lets an assistant answer questions such as "Which searches brought clicks to the pricing page last month?". See the API and MCP pages.
What Statsdot stores
Only the access Google grants, kept encrypted, and the name of the chosen property. The search data is read from Google when you open the report and kept in a cache for up to three hours, never stored permanently. Statsdot asks for read-only access: it cannot change anything in your Search Console.
Disconnect
Choose Disconnect in the site settings. Statsdot withdraws the access at Google and forgets it. You can also remove Statsdot from your Google account at any time under Third-party connections; the report then asks you to connect again.
