Import your history from Fathom

Updated October 19, 2026

Statsdot imports the daily totals of a Fathom site through Fathom's API.

What you need

  • The site id: the code in your Fathom embed, data-site="ABCDEFG", also shown in the site's settings in Fathom.
  • An API key: in Fathom, Settings > API > Create new. A key with read access to that site is enough. You can delete it after the import.

Import

  1. In Statsdot, open the settings of your site, Import your history > Import from Fathom.
  2. Enter the site id and the API key, and choose Connect Fathom.
  3. Choose Start import and keep the page open. Statsdot fetches one report for one quarter at a time. Fathom limits how fast its API can be asked; when it says so, the import waits a moment and continues by itself.

Only the days before your site started recording in Statsdot are imported, within your plan's data retention, and a new import replaces the previous one.

What is imported

Daily totals for visitors, visits, pageviews, bounce rate and visit duration; pages; referrers with their channels; UTM source, medium, campaign, term and content; countries; device types, browsers and operating systems; and your Fathom events with their conversions.

Fathom has no entry or exit pages, regions or cities in its API, so those panels stay empty for the imported days. Fathom notes that its detailed reports are accurate from March 2021.

The key

The API key is used during the import only. It is kept encrypted in a temporary store for at most two hours and never saved with your account.
