Import your history from Umami

Updated October 19, 2026

Statsdot imports the daily totals of an Umami website through Umami's API, from Umami Cloud or from your own server.

What you need

  • The website id: in Umami, the website's Edit page, a long code like 4fb7fa4c-5b46-438d-94b3-3a8fb9bc2e8b.
  • For Umami Cloud: an API key, from Settings > API keys.
  • For a self-hosted Umami: its https address and the username and password of a user who can see the website. A view-only user is enough.

Import

  1. In Statsdot, open the settings of your site, Import your history > Import from Umami.
  2. Choose Umami Cloud or Self-hosted, fill in the fields and choose Connect Umami.
  3. Choose Start import and keep the page open. Umami's API has no daily breakdowns, so Statsdot first finds the days that had visits and then imports them one by one; a busy year takes a few minutes.

Only the days before your site started recording in Statsdot are imported, within your plan's data retention, and a new import replaces the previous one.

What is imported

Daily totals for visitors, visits, pageviews, bounce rate and visit duration; pages, entry and exit pages; referrers with their channels; countries, regions and cities; devices, browsers and operating systems; and events. Umami keeps the top 500 rows of each list per day.

The credentials

The API key, or the session Umami gives after the login, is used during the import only. It is kept encrypted in a temporary store for at most two hours and never saved with your account. Your password is only sent to your Umami to log in.
