Import your history from Google Analytics
Updated October 18, 2026
Moving from Google Analytics? Statsdot can import the daily totals of a Google Analytics 4 property, so your reports keep the months before you switched.
Import
- Open the settings of your site (the cog next to the period buttons) and go to Import your history.
- Choose Connect Google Analytics and sign in with the Google account that can see the property. Statsdot asks for read-only access.
- Pick the GA4 property and choose Start import.
Statsdot imports one month at a time and shows the progress. Keep the page open until it finishes; a long history takes a minute or two. You can stop at any time; the months already imported stay.
Only the days before your site started recording in Statsdot are imported, within your plan's data retention, so no day is counted twice. A new import replaces the previous one, whether it came from Google Analytics or another tool.
Universal Analytics (the version before GA4) was shut down by Google and its data can no longer be read.
What is imported
Daily totals for:
- users, pageviews, sessions, bounce rate and session duration;
- pages and landing pages;
- sources, mediums and campaigns, which also give the channels;
- countries, regions and cities;
- devices, browsers and operating systems;
- events, with outbound clicks and file downloads renamed to Statsdot's
Outbound LinkandFile Download. Google's automatic events (page views, sessions, scrolls) are left out.
How it compares
Google Analytics counts users with a cookie and Statsdot counts visitors per day without one, so the numbers of the imported months and your own months are close but not identical. Exit pages, revenue and funnels are not imported. Like every import, the imported days are not filtered when you click a row: see Filters.
Privacy and access
Statsdot uses the access only while the import runs and does not keep it: the connection ends with the import, and nothing is stored but the daily totals. You can also remove Statsdot from your Google account under Third-party connections.
