Moving from Fathom to Statsdot

Updated October 19, 2026

Fathom and Statsdot share the same idea: simple, cookieless analytics on one screen. People who move from one to the other usually do it for practical reasons rather than a missing feature.

Reasons people switch

  • Where the data is stored. Fathom is a Canadian company that strips EU visitors' IP addresses in the EU and stores the data in the United States. Statsdot stores data in the European Union; requests still pass through Cloudflare, a US company.
  • Price in euros, VAT included, and a trial without a card.
  • Six languages in the dashboard, emails and help.
  • Daily visitor codes. Both rotate the salt of the visitor code every day, so the counting is very close.

Fathom's facts here come from its own pages, checked in October 2026.

What you keep

Statsdot imports the daily totals of your Fathom site through Fathom's API: visitors, visits, pageviews, bounce rate and visit duration; pages; referrers, with their channel; all five UTM tags; countries; device types, browsers and systems; and your Fathom events with their conversions.

Fathom's API has no entry or exit pages, regions or cities, so those panels are empty for the imported days.

How to do it

  1. Add your site to Statsdot and install the script. Keep Fathom running for a week or two to compare.
  2. Create an API key in Fathom (Settings > API) and note the site id from your embed code.
  3. Import: Statsdot site settings, Import > Import from Fathom. Fathom limits how fast its API can be called; the import waits when asked and continues by itself. Details in Import from Fathom.
  4. Recreate your events as goals. Fathom events and Statsdot events work the same way: a name, sent when something happens. Replace fathom.trackEvent('Signup') with statsdot.track('Signup').
  5. Remove the Fathom script and delete the API key.
