How to exclude your own visits

Updated October 19, 2026

On a small site, the owner is often the most frequent visitor. Checking the site after every change, testing a form, showing it to a client: all of it counts, and it skews the numbers you base decisions on.

1. By address: your office and home

If you and your team work from a fixed connection, exclude its IP address. In Statsdot, site settings, General > Exclude visits, add the address, or choose Add my current address. A whole network can go in as a range, such as 198.51.100.0/24.

This catches every browser and device on that connection, including colleagues who never set anything up.

2. By browser: your own devices anywhere

On the go, your address changes. Exclude the browser itself: open your site, open the browser console (F12) and run localStorage.statsdot_ignore = '1'. That browser stops being counted on that site, wherever you are. Do it once per browser and device.

3. By page: tests and admin

Pages that only you open, such as an admin area, a staging path or a test page, can be excluded by pattern: /admin/*, /test.

4. By environment: staging and local

Add the script only in production. Statsdot never sends anything from localhost. For staging sites, simply do not register their domain: visits from domains that are not registered are ignored.

Open the realtime view (Last 30 minutes), visit your site from the excluded browser or connection, and confirm nothing appears.

Step by step for every option: Exclude your own visits.
